Merging literature and visual art act as the catalyst for creating my autobiography, Pendulum. The story journeys through irrational thoughts of self-inflicted pain as each segment explores the different abnormalities inherent in the rampant stages of what is to be bi-polar. Each self-portrait and abstraction carries facets that create entirely different tones. The fluctuation in mediums creates memories in luminous oil, depression in soft charcoal, mania in vivid color, and rage in graphic blacks. Hand-written text became an integral element that forged a symbiotic relationship between novel and art. Each visual shift represents my fears and personal conquests in this compendium of imagery.
