“My name is John Ford and I make Westerns”. Many western and thriller movies of his era are important sources of inspiration for me. Most of my portraits are “narrative” and are referring to cinematographic projections, close-up shots. I never ask people to pose but rather observe from a distance, waiting for the right “take”. “Harmonica” is a typical example, somehow paying tribute to a character from a famous Italo western.

Thus, with Ford I am sharing his forename, his fascination for motion pictures and the simplicity of the artistic credo: “My name is Hans and I make pictures”.
