My childhood was spent drawing on the last pages of my notebooks during class. The school year was torture for me; the best days were summer vacations spent with family and loved ones.

I always wanted to create something; to draw or to paint, to the despair of my teachers and parents. I was facing the challenge of being an artist, something that was not seen as having proper potential for a future. So I searched for the love of life, having hope that there is always something good and beautiful everywhere, despite it sometimes being stifled.

Since my arrival in Quebec, my life has changed. I learned to “breathe,” to be less complex, and to take things as they come. I want to exist, to be myself. My personality emerges and it is painting that helps me. Painting is my refuge, my own personal island, my castle in the clouds.
