Unlike some of my previous work, the Line and Space paintings have emerged without any concept or image in mind. I allow myself to draw lines in smooth and beautiful motion without repetition, without cessation, as lines move from one canvas to the next. As I have no distinct reference in mind, the lines are never the same twice, but emerge with a harmony of space-bound by sensitivity. Between the lines, space takes on its own beautiful form. After 40 years of experience as a painter, lines and space form out of instinct, a focus of movement that emerges naturally from within.
