My work is a marriage between current affairs and surreal fiction. The stories are often told in seemingly mundane, everyday backgrounds that suddenly come to life with the subject and the creative team all coming together to create something less ordinary. I have a very well established list of clients both editorially and commercially that I shoot for, but my passion unequivocally lies in my personal projects. They are the driving force and the foundation to the success of my career. I was born in outback Australia, in a small town called Blackall. This town had a population of 1,000 people, and was so remote that it was a seven-hour drive (700 kilometers) to the nearest traffic light. My parents are Lebanese immigrants, who moved to Australia to escape the war of the 70s and 80s.

I believe it was this unique upbringing that shaped my vision of the world, and it is reflected in my photography.

My style is very Australian. I hope it has a sense of humour, and it draws on a relaxed yet inspired attitude to create the final work. I follow very few rules. I hope my work reflects wonderful and unique Australianism—elements such as the vast space that surrounded my youth, the wonderfully sharp light that flooded my summers, and the freedom that allows us to be whatever we want to be.
