Each painting is a venture into a new territory; a surrender to a creative process that springs from an instinctual source.

Having received most of her artistic training from her father, a master of pen and ink, Lajos Szalay, Ms. Phipps has always been fascinated by the effect of color on bold, powerful black lines. The drawings are disciplined and controlled, while the colors are luminous and effervescent, adding a new dimension, a fresh interpretation and a completely different vibration. Each painting is a venture into a new territory; a surrender to a creative process that springs from an instinctual source. Currently a resident of Southern California, her artwork is held in private collections throughout the world.
